Cubitt Jacobs & Prosek Communications Wins PRSA Big Apple Award for New Media Campaign of the Year for Launch of MINI Platinum Visa® Card
New York, May 24, 2007 – Cubitt Jacobs & Prosek Communications (CJP), a leading independent full-service communications firm, was honored with the award for New Media Campaign at the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) 20th Annual Big Apple Awards last evening at New York City’s Rainbow Room. The award was received for a program executed with BMW and MINI Financial Services to launch the MINI Platinum Visa® Card, a customize-able affinity credit card aimed at MINI enthusiasts.
The 2007 New Media Campaign honor, the first given by the Awards committee, recognizes communications programs that utilize new media strategies and tactics as their primary source of outreach to generate awareness or influence behavior.
“We are so honored to receive the inaugural Big Apple Award for New Media Campaign,” said Wilson Cleveland, vice president of CJP’s New Media & Entertainment Practice. “The social Internet has made this an exciting and concurrently challenging time for communications professionals. By establishing this award, PRSA recognizes the increasingly-critical role social media relations programs are playing in overall marketing and communications plans.”
For its part, the CJP team strategically engaged MINI enthusiasts via high-traffic auto blogs and various online communities, starting hundreds of conversations about the pending release of the MINI Card three weeks before the official launch date.
