Green Goes With Everything
We’re carbon neutral: We offset our greenhouse gas emissions (100 tons of carbon each year) and further strive to preserve our natural resources through managing our consumption of natural resources, including bottled water and electricity. We’re offsetting our carbon footprint but we’re also reducing where we can and making responsible choices at our office.
What we invested in to offset our carbon footprint.
CJP chose to invest in a project that is making a very real and measurable reduction in carbon emissions. Our offsets were generated from the Val Verde CO2 Pipeline Carbon Capture and Storage project in West Texas. Each year, this project eliminates two million tons of CO2 emissions from being emitted into the atmosphere.
This project consists of an 82-mile, 10-inch CO2 pipeline that takes CO2 from a natural gas processing plant and transports it for a use other than venting into the atmosphere. To build the infrastructure, Val Verde had an initial cost of $17.6 million. The sale of the credits for carbon reduction is helping to cover its commitment.
CJP’s investment in the project and the retirement of the offsets are registered with Environmental Resources Trust, a non-profit environmental watchdog that guarantees the environmental benefit of the carbon reduction and retirement of the offsets.
